the main action area for severe weather is along & south of the warm front extending from north of Kansas City to north of Saint Louis, the Indianapolis area, central West Virginia, towards virginia beach… SE of the low centered just south of Omaha… and east of the cold front from the low to wichita to western OK, Midland, and the TX big bend area.

severe storms are currently ongoing in the Texas Big Country & concho Valley, SE KS/NE OK… with more isolated activity in NW MO, SW OH. this is amongst a very widespread area of general rain/non-severe thunderstorm activity across the western Southern Plains, Kansas, the mid/upper Mississippi Watershed, & Western Great Lakes (some of the activity in the upper MS Watershed & the Rockies is snow)

this is an unfolding situation where many severe storm cells will emerge amongst the more chill activity. be weather aware this aftenroon & evening, folks:

areas 1 & 2 is where the aforementioned activity will move east over the afternoon into the evening, bringing widespread rain & storms – many of which will be severe, with large hail, high winds, & tornadoes all possible… area 3 sees the same, just later in the evening/overnight… 4 is in the “cold sector” of the storm system and will see rain (snow mixing in in some places) and the occasianal cold-sector marginally-severe thunderstorm that mainly produces large hail. sector 5 is cold-front non-severe rain activity… sector 6 is Rocky Mountain isolated rain to snow showers.
